Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the commitment of the Port to contribute to sustainable economic development – working with employees, the local community and society at large – to improve the quality of life in ways that are both good for the business of the Port and good for Dublin City, its citizens and visitors. Integration of the Port with the City is one of DPC’s main objectives.

Social Responsibility

Introduction

CSR has a central and important place at the heart of our Strategic Plan where we define CSR as the commitment of the Port to contribute to sustainable economic development – working with employees, the local community and society at large to improve the quality of life, in ways that are both good for the business of the Port and good for Dublin City, its citizens and visitors.

In particular, we recognise our role in the local communities with which we have strong connections over past generations and our CSR programme comprises three elements of support for these local communities:

  • Education as a means to improve the economic wellbeing of local people through to the generation of employment opportunities in the local economy;
  • Community events;
  • Sports in local communities and in Dublin Bay.

2015 was a momentous twelve months for Dublin Port Company, who lifted two major awards over the course of the year in relation to Corporate Social Responsibility: the ESPO Award on Societal Integration of Ports and the Chambers Ireland CSR Award for Excellence in the Community.
